ACI Acquires Internet Tools.

February 16th 1999, Wilmslow, UK. ACI, publishers of the award winning 4th Dimension database and rapid application development tool, announces the acquisition of Internet Tools from Pacific Data Management, Inc. (PDM).

Internet Tools bundles routines that allow 4th Dimension users to integrate TCP/IP and internet functionality into their 4th Dimension applications, including email (SMTP/POP3), FTP services and direct TCP manipulation.

ACI plans to integrate these functions into a future major release of its flagship product, 4th Dimension. However, Internet Tools will be shipped in its current form on the same date as 4th Dimension v6.5 (Q2 1999) and will be part of a specific offer. Some possible applications of Internet Tools include:

-- Sending & receiving email messages and files from within a 4th Dimension database.
-- Encoding & decoding sensitive documents sent via email.
-- Generating bulk email directly from within a 4th Dimension database.
-- Automating the receipt of email product registrations from customers.
-- Automating the delivery of database reports via email.
-- Communicating with an FTP server to send and receive files.
-- Downloading important information from the World Wide Web.
-- Searching on-line databases for vital information.
-- Tracking (via the Internet) packages sent to customers.

Internet Tools will enter ACI's product line in the second quarter of 1999. Before that date, PDM will continue to sell and support the package. After that date, ACI will assume responsibility for the sale, service and support of Internet Tools to existing and new users.
