4D UK Announces Plans for WebSTAR Server Suite 4.3

2nd July 2000, Wilmslow, UK. 4D UK, publishers of the award-winning 4th Dimension (4D) database development environment and and WebSTAR Server Suite, today reaffirmed their commitment to WebSTAR customers by announcing plans for WebSTAR Server Suite 4.3, a free update for current WebSTAR Server Suite 4 users. Version 4.3 will offer numerous enhancements to the WebSTAR Web, FTP and Mail servers, remote administration application and Sherlock-based search engine. Specific feature improvements and availability will be announced in the coming weeks.

Improved Server Reliability and Performance

WebSTAR Server Suite 4.3 includes many 'under-the-hood' improvements to the core server suite feature set. HTTP 1.1 byte-range support has been reengineered for improved client performance, content delivery and resuming of HTTP file transfers. Performance and reliability improvements have been made to the WebSTAR Mail server, with enhancements to message bounce handling and the servers integrated "spam" prevention capabilities.

Enhanced Search Engine Language Support

WebSTAR's advanced Sherlock-based search engine is being updated and improved in version 4.3, for increased reliability and more accurate search results. Based on Sherlock, WebSTAR's search engine is being enhanced to support web-crawling, indexing and
searching of Western European and Asian languages and character sets.
